list of tasks

ok, more ideas.

instead of making it just a walk from point a to point b and.. survival or whatever crap which probably sounds lame or sth (like my bestie just told me :( haha.) .. i thought to have a list of things to do would be great.

For example.. i come up with a long list of fun random stuff to do. and from walking from point a to b i have to accomplish these tasks. Then ill take lots of photos and videos and post all up.

Some tasks could be:
-entertain 10 groups of people (like, perform magic tricks [and i video this! i.e. street magic style!].. maybe dance? haha i dunno)

- take as many flyers as possible from the same person (one at a time) before he realises.
yknow those irritating people who thrust leaflets into your face? ill walk past and take one.. make a large circle, pass the paper to my companion, then walk past the person and take again.. repeat 219381 times.

-take photos with 3 celebs (have to be really lucky to meet one! the only celeb ive met in my life is li nan xing la. at upper serangoon. well ok daniel choo too. hahahaha. he youtube celeb leh. anyway.)

-get someone to eat 5 packets of ketchup with me (video this lol.)

etcetc.
the list goes on.

i could take suggestions and ideas. yupyup. that's all i have for now. cya.

Original.. NOT?

Ok forget what i said about keeping the whole thing to one post, i think people will be lazy to scroll down anyway.

Anyway, i just found out that apparently such a walk has already been done!
http://sgcafe.com/showthread.php?t=34161
And apparently they took about 14 hours to walk from Boonlay to pasir ris.

However, i'm still gonna go on with this mission thing!! cos it's different in many ways.

1) This is not a mental endurance thing. For those who know me well, you should know that i HATE running, which is the .. basic symbol of mental endurance. No, it's not about pushing my limits and conquering pain and all.
Rather, it's a journey across Singapore! I want to visit different shopping centres and do certain tasks (which i'll cover later) and just.. enjoy the whole experience. Not get cramps and stomach aches and muscle aches (as you'll read about if you read through that forum thread i linked above)

2) As related to 1, i'm not going to walk continously and only stop for lunch/dinner breaks! I'll visit places.. do different things.. etc. It's not 'The Walk' but 'The Journey'! see the difference? Hence i don't care if walking across Singapore can be done in 1 day or 1 hour or whatever, i'll be doing it at my own pace.

3) I'm doing this alone. It isn't an open invitation to whoever wants to join me to come along. It's a solo adventure, unlike the 'great koyuki walk' or whatever it is in the link where a group of people went.

Yes, so .. on to some ideas i had while some random brainstorming:

I thought it would be fun to have a long checklist of tasks that i had to accomplish along the way while walking from point A to B. So i thought of some ideas:

a) Test the service level of different retail shops.
This would mean acting like a totally retarded assholic customer. lol. An example would be to go to some shoe shop and try out a particular shoe and keep changing size. then decide that the colour isn't nice and change to another show. repeat till the salesperson seems pissed off enough. Then check my wallet.. OOPS. no money. bye.
hahahha. i'm such an idiot.

b) Perform magic tricks
I've been wanting to do this since 2 years ago, but i never got the guts. Maybe i could do it this time round.. like a street magician. But first.. need to brush up my tricks.. hehe.

c) Take random shots
These can be artistic.. or just .. random shots. i dunno. Ok by shots i mean like, photographs.

d) see how much free food i can get
Samples, scraps, etc. It would be interesting to find out how much you can actually eat without paying anything.

argh ok i got bored of thinking suddenly, overwhelmed by a wave of fatigue. I think i need a nap. booking in tonight :/ chowz.

The Journey

(latest update - Constraints)
(i've decided to keep this entire thing as one blog post. so any new editions, ill be adding BELOW this blog post. from time to time i'll edit the entire thing to make it neater and hence can be read as a whole. i'll place the latest update here, so if there's an update you wanna read, just Ctrl+F it)

Introduction
Ok, what is this whole Journey thing about. Last year before my A levels was when this idea first popped into my mind. I didn't develop it nor put much thought into it, and hence it wasn't carried out. But now the enthusiasm for it has resurfaced and I'd like to carry it out after i ORD from the army.
This blog will be used to pen down my thoughts and planning for the entire project, as well as hopefully garner feedback so i can make it a success.

Here's the idea in a nutshell:

I want to start from a point in Singapore (somewhere far from my house) and walk home.

Yup. Sounds simple and stupid and pointless? Well, it is actually a pretty exciting adventure if you think about it. There's the challenge of actually making it back. And there's the visiting of new places.. interacting with people. And i'm imposing a restraint on myself - i'll only have $xx to start with.

I haven't decided how much money i should start with, i'm considering starting with NONE, so i'll have to somehow find ways to get food and stuff. Maybe i'll just ask people to buy me meals.. perform magic tricks? get free samples? =) see, it's exciting.
I'll be taking alot of photos of the places i go.. and will keep a journal on the things i do and my thoughts. Then i'll blog everything when i return home .

I'm gonna need alot of feedback from people because there are alot of angles to cover in this little mission. I'll make a second post by Friday with more details on what i have planned and thought through so far.

Constraints

Now, there are several constraints that i thought of offhand-

1) Hygiene

Where am i going to shower? brush my teeth?

The best thing i can think of is a swimming complex but then that would cost money for entry.. how about some condo which doesn't require me to show my resident pass so i just walk in and use the swimming pool shower?

2) Sleep

Where am i going to sleep? HDB void deck? some grass patch? i'm perfectly fine with bringing a sleeping bag and just lying somewhere to sleep - but will the police come and disturb me?

And while sleeping - how do i secure my stuff? my bag? if some thief comes and steals my stuff i'm screwed.

3) Sustenance
In other words, food. If i start with 0 dollars, i really have to rely on my begging and scavenging skills. Think - people who leave half their fries leftover in macdonalds. yes, it's kinda gross. but .. it's just like taking fries from ur frens who can't finish it. just hope the person no aids or what la.
How sia!
probably need to think of a very good speech to get a stranger to treat me a meal. any ideas?

ok that's all i have for now, once i think of more i'll post on my main blog (http://alanz-.blogspot.com) that i have updated this one. I'll come up with a solid plan later on, these are just preliminary thoughts. cya soon.
